On April 2nd, 2025, we set off to Parsdorf – the headquarters of KraussMaffei – together with our customers. And there was plenty to see!
The day began with a warm welcome to visitors and a series of interesting presentations focused on innovations, modern technologies, and sustainable production, which is often associated with high costs. However, with the right technology, this doesn’t have to be the case. For example, sandwich injection molding technology allows the core to be filled with mechanically recycled PC/ABS, while the high-quality outer layer is made of chemically recycled ABS.
Another interesting and current topic was the use of fiber-reinforced plastics, for example, in the production of battery housings for electric vehicles.
The rest of the morning was dedicated to the actual visit of the production plant. The sheer length of the tour route commands respect, as it involved almost a kilometer of walking. No wonder, since the plant covers an area of nearly 250,000 square meters. We and our business partners had the opportunity to see the initial machining of raw materials, the preparation of individual components, painting, final machine assembly, and even the covered dispatch area. It’s great that even in this type of manufacturing, there’s a sector dedicated to apprentices who are training in selected fields for their future careers. During the production tour, it was possible to see not only classic injection molding machines but also technologies like large-format 3D printing.
And a 3D printer that you can walk inside is a truly impressive machine.
he afternoon continued with practical demonstrations in the Technology Center, and naturally, it was possible to see the best in operation. For example, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) injection molding with SilcoSet technology, or surface coloring with the ColorForm system. This technology allows the surface to be finished with a final layer, eliminating the need for a subsequent painting step. This naturally shortens both time and production costs. All demonstrations could be discussed with experts, allowing for live solutions to specific requirements.
The afternoon also included a series of lectures in the auditorium, where visitors learned essential information and details about all the technologies, for which the technical center isn’t always the most suitable environment.
